being LEVEL-headed

Isaiah 26:3

King James Version

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

whose mind is stayed on thee:

because he trusteth in thee.

Does it matter so much we have the latest app, gadget, or tech?

Does it matter so much we're always in the know, tech-wise?

Does it matter what people think of you?

Is it wise to do so?

Or, would you rather put your faith in CHRIST?

In the ONE, TRUE LORD of ALL.

In Whom life, truth, and salvation, comes from:

John 14:6

King James Version

6 Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.

It's mighty tiresome running after the latest this, or that.

It can even create neurosis in you.

And to what end?

That you're always in the "loop"?

That you're "trending"?

That you're not "left behind"?

Methinks, if you keep following trends, you may be left behind.

And I don't mean by the world's standards.

This is what I mean:

Matthew 24:39-42

King James Version

39 And knew not until the flood came,

and took them all away;

so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field;

the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill;

the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore:

for ye know not what hour

your Lord doth come.

You will be left behind if you focus on idolatry.

Worshiping the latest gadgets, sports heroes, music mavericks, fleeting fashion, latest tech.

And whatever else this fallen world deems "cool", and "must have".

Making sure your heart stays farthest away from GOD.

That's the enemy's plan.

To keep you "occupied".

So, he can "occupy".

The Bible did say:

Luke 16:15

King James Version

15 And he said unto them,

Ye are they which justify yourselves before men;

but God knoweth your hearts:

for that which is highly esteemed among men

is abomination in the sight of God.

Sure, we're all running a race.

Not a race to find who's the smartest, most famous, and wealthiest.

Rather, it's a different kind of race.

At least, for born agains.

2 Timothy 4:7-8

King James Version

7 I have fought a good fight,

I have finished my course,

I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me

a crown of righteousness,

which the Lord,

the righteous judge,

shall give me at that day:

and not to me only,

but unto all them also

that love his appearing.

Who cares if you don't have the latest gadget?

Who cares if you're not in the "loop"?

Who cares if you don't know the latest tech "lingo"?

Who cares if you can't program at all?

Will the LORD judge you that way?

Won't it rather be this way:

Psalm 14:2

King James Version

2 The Lord looked down from heaven

upon the children of men,

to see if there were any that did understand,

and seek God.

Of course, the LORD found His answer a long time ago.

Romans 3:11

King James Version

11 There is none that understandeth,

there is none that seeketh after God.

Folks, time for you to have a change of heart.

In place of going ga-ga over technology.

Colossians 3:2

King James Version

2 Set your affection on things above,

not on things on the earth.

That is, if this is what you want:

Colossians 3:1

King James Version

3 If ye then be risen with Christ,

seek those things which are above,

where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

on phone ADDICTION

Psalm 44:20-21

King James Version

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God,

or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

21 Shall not God search this out?

for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

The devil truly has many devices.

One device, is the device people often look at.

Devised to distract your from GOD.

The smartphone.

"Yeah, but I need it for business."

"I need to connect with family."

"It's fun."

"You're just jealous, coz you don't have friends."

"I like taking pictures."

"I'm not born again, why should I care?"

Well, that fun, family, and friends excuse takes a lot of your time.

It eats up a large chunk of your life.

Especially kids, whose faces are constantly plastered on games.

Or teenagers who try to outdo each other with their photos, and activities.

Same with adults, who don't talk to each other anymore.

Even as the phone's also used to shut others out.

An opthalmologist shook his head at LED effects upon our eyes.

As with everything else, used in moderation, gadgets are okay.

But are gadgets really used in moderation?

Aren't those filled with apps and sites to hook us all?

What is addiction but an "I can't live without it" stand.

A new word has even been created for this syndrome.

Nomophobia.

Anything that takes over our life, work, or relationship with GOD, and other people, could be an addiction.

Unless there are regulations about not using phones on the street, more often than not, you'd see people using their phones as they walk, or drive.

Of course, you know the danger in that.

If we are not a danger to ourselves, we could be a danger to others.

Though, usually, it's both.

We have been captivated by that tiny computer in our hands.

We marvel at what it can do.

Is it really that smart?

Sure, you need it.

The world designed we need it.

Ever imagined a day, or a time, the whole system collapses?

What of your contacts, your pictures, your apps?

Can you live without a phone?

Can you go back to just talking to each other in person?

Or make appointments in person?

Or just enjoy each other's company, without necessarily documenting every smile, word, or event?

Are we really closer to each other, more than during the pre-phone era?

I suppose some people like to connect digitally.

Some prefer personal meet-ups.

With phones taking over every industry, it's no surprise it's attracted hackers.

As we go fully digital, expect more of those.

Expect more privacy intrusion.

Expect theft.

Even blackmail.

Once your private life is in that tiny device, expect the end of privacy.

Your face, fingerprint, voice, retina, and bank accounts are now subject to misuse.

Surely, you knew that from the start?

Surely, we've been tricked into acquiescence?

Surely, you're aware how it destroys young people's lives?

What with the non-stop, competitive posing, posting, and chats.

Now, people can boast what they can do, will do, or about to do, in real time.

Now, your every move, every location, every purchase, every transaction can be tracked.

Don't you feel like mice moving in controlled environments?

Don't you feel everything's ripe for total control of whoever wants to control the world?

"Nah, you're imagining it," you'd strike back at me.

And I'd tell you, "I don't think so."

As born again, I have the Bible to back me up in everything.

It's all been prophesied:

2 Timothy 3:1-7

King James Version

3 This know also,

that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves,

covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers,

disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers,

false accusers, incontinent, fierce,

despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded,

lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness,

but denying the power thereof:

from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses,

and lead captive silly women laden with sins,

led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning,

and never able to come

to the knowledge of the truth.

There's even an app to END your addiction.

Really?

Such an irony.

Now, you'll get hooked on that new app.

We have given ourselves to another god.

And to another.

And another.

It's time to RETURN to the ONE, TRUE GOD now.

Isaiah 45:22

King James Version

22 Look unto me,

and be ye saved,

all the ends of the earth:

for I am God,

and there is none else.

electronic WASTE

Ezekiel 16:49

King James Version

49 Behold,

this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom,

pride,

fulness of bread,

and abundance of idleness was in her

and in her daughters,

neither did she strengthen the hand

of the poor and needy.

For the longest time, I've been wondering what happens to our electronic waste.

You know, old TVs, computers, cellphones, printers, scanners, cameras, and other electronic gadgets.

I live in a third world country, and I've observed shops buy these.

To be re-sold, or they take out reusable parts, and pieces.

If it's a collector's item, it gets a high price.

The rest are thrown, given away, or sold for whatever price.

But my country has gotten spoiled, too.

Now, they also don't want old stuff.

Everyone wants the latest gadget.

The marketers have really worked on the young.

So, I wonder what happens to unwanted electronic gadgets.

Can the world sustain all our junk?

Save Earth from the hazards of E-wastes

There are also FREE e-waste drop off events.

Thank GOD for the creativity of some entrepreneurs.

Who always find a use for other people's junk.

But I still think, at the rate we're going, junking everything still usable, and buying new cars, or gadgets, first chance a new model comes out, maybe these organizations may not be able to keep up.

Everyone wants faster, more powerful gadgets.

"Toys" as they would call it.

There was a time man did just fine, without all these electronic stuff.

Let's just not be addicted to things of the world.

Let's focus on JESUS instead.

Colossians 3:1-2

King James Version

3 If ye then be risen with Christ,

seek those things which are above,

where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above,

PROGRAMMING man to COVET

JESUS said:

Luke 12:15

King James Version

15 And he said unto them,

Take heed,

and beware of covetousness:

for a man's life consisteth not

in the abundance of the things

which he possesseth.

How is man being herded?

A sly marketing strategy has been in place.

"Planned obsolescence", it's called.

Where artificial life spans are given products, and services.

Never mind that the products are still in good shape.

They create things to go obsolete, well before their time.

You're programmed to change phones, every six to eight months.

You're marketed to buy the latest car models.

Everything's been "engineered" to make us want to buy.

And replace old models, even if they're still usable, sturdy, or roadworthy.

It's always keeping up with the Joneses.

Marketers have latched on to creating that artificial need in us.

We are being herded to buy, as often as companies want us to.

We are constantly being tempted with all kinds of gizmos, and attractive propositions.

Newer chips, processors, models, looks, colors, styles, fragrance, performance.

Must-have, they say.

And people literally buy into it.

We often end up with duds.

Clamor for new models, gives rise to consumerism.

And drives people into debt.

Not to mention, mania.

Who created that sly, slick trick?

Manufacturers, and marketers, of course.

It's all been rigged, right from the start.

The day your baby was born, manufacturers, and marketers kept an eye on him.

I correct myself.

BEFORE he was even born, he was already eyed, and feasted upon.

In total contrast to how GOD eyes us:

Psalm 139:13-14

King James Version

13 For thou hast possessed my reins:

thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I will praise thee;

for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:

marvellous are thy works;

and that my soul knoweth right well.

Jeremiah 1:5

King James Version

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;

and before thou camest forth out of the womb

I sanctified thee,

and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Ephesians 1:4-5

King James Version

4 According as he hath chosen us in him

before the foundation of the world,

that we should be holy and without blame

before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us

unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ

to himself,

according to the good pleasure of his will,

GOD eyes us, for His rightful GLORY.

The world eyes us, for Satan's glory.

Everything's been "engineered" to keep us buying.

To keep us slaves to a greedy economic system.

Keeping us in debt, for the rest of our lives.

Marketing gurus have fed on these insatiable needs, and wants.

They program us to keep buying.

Till we can't buy anymore.

By then, they have fat bank accounts.

And we're kept paying, till our lives run out.

Not everyone's financial savvy.

Not everyone's tech savvy.

All the better, they say.

But GOD's got his plan, too.

Read "LAZARUS and the RICH MAN".

But what happens to the old models?

The ones we junked?

That's for the next post.
